Who we are and what this covers
Better Coverages LLC ("Better Coverages," "we," "us") is a performance marketing company. We run advertising, mostly on social platforms, that invites people to request information about auto, home, and Medicare insurance. We connect those people with licensed insurance agents, agencies, marketing organizations, and carriers (our "Network Partners"), and we provide lead delivery, filtering, and campaign tools to the businesses that buy from us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information for:
- Consumers who visit our websites, landing pages, or ads and submit a request to be matched or quoted.
- Business customers, such as agents, agencies, IMOs and FMOs, call centers, and carriers, and their staff, who contact us, buy leads or calls, or use our buyer platform, APIs, and integrations.
- Visitors who browse our sites without submitting anything.
Better Coverages is not an insurance company and does not sell insurance policies. Once a Network Partner receives your information, its own privacy policy also governs how it uses it. Read this policy together with our Terms and Conditions.
Our services are offered in the United States only, and information is processed and stored in the United States.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details
- Name, phone number, email address, and mailing address or ZIP code.
- Insurance request details
- The coverage you are shopping for and the details a quote needs. Depending on the product, this can include date of birth or age, household members, current insurer, vehicles and drivers, driving history, property details, homeownership, and Medicare eligibility or current coverage type.
- Business details
- For business customers: company name, role, work email and phone, licensed states and NPN, target geographies, volume, and filter preferences.
- Billing details
- For business customers: billing contact, payment method, and transaction history. [Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and are not stored by us.]
- Communications
- Messages, emails, and support requests you send us, and recordings of calls where permitted by law and disclosed on the call.
Our forms are not designed to collect detailed medical information. Please do not include it in any free-text field.
Information collected automatically
- Device and connection data, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
- Usage data, such as pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, referring URL, and the ad or campaign that brought you to us.
- Approximate location inferred from your IP address or the ZIP code you enter. We do not collect precise GPS location through our forms.
- Form interaction data captured by consent-verification tools, described in the next section.
Information from other sources
- Verification and data-hygiene providers that confirm a phone number is valid and what kind of line it is, standardize addresses, and check email deliverability.
- Federal and state Do Not Call registries, and suppression lists, including lists of numbers associated with telemarketing litigation.
- Advertising platforms, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat, when you interact with our ads or submit information through a platform lead form.
- Network Partners, who may tell us whether a lead was contacted, quoted, or sold, so we can measure quality and process returns.
Consent verification and session recording
When you submit a form on our sites, we use third-party consent-verification services, including ActiveProspect TrustedForm and Verisk Jornaya LeadiD, to create an independent record of your visit. These services capture the page as it appeared to you, the disclosure and consent language shown, your interactions with the form (such as clicks, typing, and field entries), a timestamp, and your IP address and device information.
We use these records to prove that you asked to be contacted and which companies you agreed to hear from, to detect fraudulent or automated submissions, and to respond to complaints and legal claims. The certificate or token is delivered with your request to the Network Partner that receives it. These providers process data under their agreements with us and their own privacy policies.
By using our forms, you acknowledge that your session on the form page is recorded for these purposes.
How we use information
- To match you with Network Partners who can provide the insurance information or quotes you asked for, and to deliver your request to them.
- To contact you by phone, text, or email about your request, as you authorized.
- To verify your phone line and eligibility, and to screen out duplicate, fraudulent, or automated submissions.
- To document and prove consent, and to honor opt-outs and Do Not Call requests.
- To operate our buyer platform: accounts, lead routing, caps and filters, delivery, billing, credits, and support.
- To measure and improve our advertising, creative, and landing pages, including by sending conversion events to advertising platforms.
- To analyze lead quality and performance, and to produce aggregated or de-identified reports that do not identify you.
- To comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect the rights, safety, and property of consumers, partners, and Better Coverages.
Calls, texts, and your consent
If you agree on our form, Better Coverages and the Network Partners identified in the consent disclosure may call or text the number you provide about the insurance you asked about, including with automated technology and artificial or prerecorded voice messages. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
You can revoke consent at any time, by any reasonable means:
- Reply STOP to any text message. Reply HELP for help.
- Tell the caller you no longer want to be contacted.
- Email [privacy@better-coverages.com] or call [1-800-000-0000] with the number you want removed.
We honor revocations promptly and within the time the law requires, add your number to our internal Do Not Call list, and pass the request on to Network Partners that received your information. A partner you have already spoken with keeps its own records, so you may also need to ask it directly.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Mobile opt-in data and text-messaging consent collected for our own messaging program are not sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. [Confirm this against your 10DLC campaign registration before launch.]
Your choices
- Calls and texts: revoke consent at any time, as described above.
- Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We may still send messages about an active request or account.
- Cookies and ads: adjust your browser settings, use platform ad controls, or turn on GPC.
- Sale and sharing: opt out as described in the next section.
- Your data: request access, correction, or deletion as described under your state privacy rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Because Network Partners pay us for the requests we deliver, and because we use advertising pixels, some state laws treat our activities as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or as "targeted advertising." You have the right to opt out. To do so:
- Use [our opt-out form].
- Email [privacy@better-coverages.com] with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share."
- Call [1-800-000-0000].
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in a browser or extension that supports it. We treat the signal as an opt-out for that browser and, where we can associate it with you, for your profile.
An opt-out stops future sales and sharing. It does not recall information already delivered to a Network Partner at your request. If you later submit a new request to be matched, we will treat it as your direction to share that request with Network Partners. If you do not want any partner to contact you, revoke your contact consent as well.
Your state privacy rights
Residents of California and of other states with comprehensive privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia, have some or all of the following rights, subject to exceptions in the law:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who received it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we collected from you.
- Portability: receive a copy in a usable format.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable.
- Appeal a decision we make about your request.
- Non-discrimination: we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide lower-quality service because you exercised these rights.
How to make a request
Email [privacy@better-coverages.com], call [1-800-000-0000], or use [our privacy request form]. We verify requests by matching details you give us, such as your name, phone number, and email, against our records. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with your written permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity directly. We respond within the time the applicable law requires, typically 45 days, extended where the law allows.
If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing [privacy@better-coverages.com] with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." If you disagree with the outcome of an appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
California notice at collection
In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information below, from the sources and for the purposes described above. Each has been disclosed for business purposes to service providers, and sold or shared with the recipients noted:
- Identifiers
- Name, phone, email, postal address, IP address, and device and cookie IDs. Sold to Network Partners; shared with advertising platforms.
- Customer records
- Contact and insurance request details, and billing details for business customers. Request details sold to Network Partners.
- Protected characteristics
- Age or date of birth and, for some products, marital status or gender. Sold to Network Partners as part of a quote request.
- Commercial information
- The insurance products you are interested in and your current coverage. Sold to Network Partners.
- Internet activity
- Browsing, ad interaction, and form interaction data, including consent recordings. Shared with advertising platforms; consent records disclosed to Network Partners.
- Geolocation
- Approximate location from ZIP code or IP address. Sold to Network Partners.
- Audio and electronic
- Call recordings, where disclosed. Disclosed to the Network Partner on a transferred call.
- Professional information
- For business customers: employer, role, and licensing. Not sold or shared.
- Inferences
- Likely interest in and eligibility for insurance products. Sold to Network Partners.
- Sensitive information
- Platform log-in credentials and, where you provide it, information about Medicare eligibility or health coverage. Used only for purposes permitted by Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11, § 7027(m), and not used to infer characteristics about you.
We keep each category for the periods described under How long we keep information. California residents may also ask about disclosures for direct marketing under California Civil Code § 1798.83.
Business customers and platform data
If you use our buyer platform or APIs, we collect account and usage information about you and your users, including log-in activity, settings, filters, caps, and API calls. We use it to provide, secure, bill for, and improve the service.
Some information your business gives us, such as your delivered-lead history for duplicate scrubbing, suppression lists, or CRM field mappings, is Customer Data. We process Customer Data on your behalf and under your instructions, as a service provider or processor, only to provide the services, and we do not sell it. Where we run managed media under your brand, the consumer-facing notice on that funnel applies, and your agreement with us sets out each party's role.
Business contacts can opt out of our marketing emails at any time. Where state law gives business contacts privacy rights, the rights described above apply to them too.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including to prove consent, resolve disputes, and meet legal and tax obligations. As a guide:
- Lead and consent records
- [Five] years from submission, because telemarketing claims can be brought years after a call.
- Opt-out and Do Not Call records
- As long as needed to keep honoring the request.
- Business accounts and billing
- The life of the account plus [seven] years.
- Analytics and advertising data
- [Up to 26 months], unless aggregated or de-identified.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it, or de-identify or aggregate it so it no longer identifies you.
How we protect information
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, role-based access controls, signed delivery payloads, and vendor due diligence. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Children's privacy
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will give notice as the law requires and, where required, ask for your consent.
